I am still transitioning. I find that using the "pen" is easy to use and makes "exact" outlining in Photoshop easier. I know others who have used the pen rather than the mouse and they all exclaim that the pen allows you to easily do more.
On a superficial note, I do wish I had gotten white instead of silver; the color of the actual tablet is not as shiny as the product images suggest. I found this very strange as the Bamboo Fun is pretty much the successor to the Graphire line. That is, even if I steadily increase or decrease the pressure of pen against tablet, the thickness of a line won't change smoothly. One thing I noticed though is that if you used the mouse immediately prior to wanting to scroll, you need to tap the nib on the tablet to re-establish focus or else the wheel will not register.Overall, I'm very pleased with the tablet and have no regret for choosing a medium sized Bamboo Fun. The three things I love most about this tablet is that 1) the USB cable is detachable, allowing me to use the mini-USB to recharge my mp3 player while not using the tablet; 2) the friction of the nib against tablet surface feels like that of a pencil to paper; and 3) the eraser actually feels like an eraser erasing on paper. Compared to my previous tablet, the Graphire3, points 2 and 3 are a VAST improvement as the pen no longer slips along a plastic drawing surface.However, compared to my old Graphire3 the Bamboo doesn't seem to have a smooth range of pressure sensitivity. For my personal use of the tablet this isn't a big problem, but I gave the product 4 stars to alert those for whom this is a valid concern.I haven't made serious use of the shortcut keys or scroll wheel yet, preferring Photoshop's keyboard shortcuts instead.
This just takes up more room on my desk, and I'm not even aware that it's bigger. A great price for an item that has solved my mouse needs. The Bamboo Fun (medium) tablet is terrific: great with photo editing and everything else.Actually I prefer the small to the medium. The small one is adequate for the non-professional.
Once in awhile, if I have to use my big computer (I told you I'm not techie) instead of my laptop, I just unplug it and replug it, and we're off again.What do I do with it. Most likely there's more I should be doing with it, but the drawing just makes me happy enough.In addition to drawing and writing, I find it wonderful to use with my laptop -- I don't have a mouse, so I have been using Bamboo instead. Don't think I swore at it, not even once. Excellent tool.
I now can spend hours and hours drawing and things look so much better and I smile a lot.I use it to write with too, it's wonderful for creating your own font designs. I hope I can list all the reasons -- I think some of them are emotional and hard to translate into words. It's gotten to the point where I truly miss it when I'm using other computers. I kid you not - I got it, plugged it in and. Why. I'm not a very computer techie person -- I love all the things attachments can do, but more often than not, I can't figure out how to work these dad gum things.My Bamboo Fun (did I mention I love it). off we went. This was for me a business investment -- I thought hard over the $199 because I'm a starving artist -- but it was worth every penny and more. I love my Bamboooooo. has made my life soo much easier, and it's sooo easy to use. I am a self-trained graphic designer who makes part of her living selling doodles I've made in a couple of places on-line -- I used to try and draw without this and I cannot figure out how I did it.
I bought this to add to powerpoint presentations. Easy to set up and intuitive to use.
